2009 Youth Summer Programs
The William E. Mee Youth Sailing Program, Mattsail’s first and flagship, is designed to hook student’s interest when they are young, and create lifelong sailors and learners.
This outline represents the intention of the head instructor and MattSail board; however, classes and staff are designed to be flexible and adaptable. Classes are tailored to fit the needs of the students enrolled. It should be noted that morning weather usually offers light winds and calm seas, lending them best to beginner sailors, the junior program (6-8) is only offered in the AM sessions.
Morning Session:
The morning sessions will be designed for youngster with little or no sailing experience. These sessions will also be for sailors who need to build confidence in their sailing ability. This session will consist of the following, basic sailing nomenclature, safety rules, daily shore lesson and on the water instruction. Morning sessions include a Junior Program for students age 6- 8 who will sail Opti class dinghies.
Afternoon Session:
The students in the afternoon session must have some sailing experience along with confidence in themselves to crew or skipper. These students should have knowledge of all morning session subjects
Afternoon Session: Advanced
These afternoon session will be designed for the advance sailor to teach them the sailing skills of racing. These session will include learning the rules of racing along with racing strategies, starts, team work between shipper & crew and safety.

Morning session run from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM
Afternoon session run from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM
Session 1 – June 29 through July 10
Session 2 – July 13 through July 24
Session 3 – July 27 through August 7
Tuition: $325 per session
