Thanks to so many generous supporters, friends and volunteers, last night’s 4th Annual MattSail Gala was a great success. Special thanks to our hosts, Dr. Bert and Laima Zarins for providing the most spectacular venue imaginable and to our sponsor Mattapoisett Boat Yard for all of their amazing support of this event and our sailing programs over the years!

We are looking forward to another amazing evening next  Saturday night (August 14) We’ll be honoring Karl M. Collyer and Seth Mendell and celebrating and supporting Tri-Town Youth Sailing. There will be great food and music and we have lots of unique items in our live and silent auctions including:

5. Rare authenticated reproduction of Mystic Seaport entitled “Charles W. Morgan at Chubbs Wharf by Moonlight” originally painted by renown marine artist John Stobart valued at $699.00.
6. Portable Weber Q100 gas grill in silver model number 386002 weighing 29 lbs, measures 28.3 x 15.98. Value: $139.
7. Womens Clothing Package from Sailaway Studio: Gauze overtop accompanied by gemstone necklace and earrings with an evening wallet and purse with shawl in shades of peach and orange sorbet. Value: $150.

The Mattapoisett Yacht Club invites you to participate in the 2nd Annual William E. Mee Regatta to benefit The Mattapoisett Community Sailing Association and The William E. Mee Youth Sailing Program on Saturday, August 14, 2009.

The regatta will include PHRF, class racing and a new class for recreational sailors which will sail one long/easy course around Buzzards Bay. This is a super event for sailors at all levels of experience!

The regatta will be followed by the 4th Annual MattSail Gala.

It is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to our dear friend Karl M. Collyer.

For me and MattSail, Karl was always our “go-to” guy.  It didn’t matter the task; it didn’t matter the weather; it didn’t matter how busy, the answer was always “I’ll take care of it”.

Karl, the MattSail community will miss you but the “we can make it happen” spirit you brought to the program will endure.
